Who is art for?

Taking Action

It's time I re-activated my art blog. And what better way to do it than to set a goal for myself? Starting today, I'm going to do one piece of art each day for one month. Maybe for longer if it goes well. Here's a little doodle I did on the computer a few days ago to poke fun at my husband for throwing his dirty clothes on the bed just after I've made it.

This is a drawing I did of the British actress, Samantha Morton, a few years ago. It was taken from the movie Morvern Callar. I've always had this one hanging in my apartment. Though the image quality isn't great, the overall idea comes through.

There's something very introspective and dramatic about her applying eyeliner in the mirror. It was shaded in a very realistic way, and folks always comment on the nose.

I've sort of lost interest in this very realistic style of art, but feel very good about this drawing.

Here is a little cartoon of my boyfriend that I sent to him when he was having a bad day. As you can see, he has many more muscles than what you would find in the average human arm.

This is a painting done on canvas covered in paper. Inspired mostly by my desire to try to do something abstract. It sort of reminds me of a woman's body laying down with her pantyline clearly in view, or else a sun and a couple of birds. I love beefy brushstrokes, or knife scrapes as these happen to be.
Is anybody out there? Cyberspace is so cold. C'mon, do me a favor and drop a note in comments.
